The Barú population and housing census, conducted by the University of Cartagena, and supported by Somos Baru, was an intense process of gathering information that provided detailed insights into the living conditions, education, employment, health, and access to services of the township's inhabitants.
This exercise was carried out with the aim of obtaining real, up-to-date data to guide decisions, programs, and projects focused on the comprehensive development of the community.
The decision to conduct the census arose from the need to highlight the realities of the territory, identify social gaps, and develop more equitable and effective responses.
Thanks to this information, it is now possible to design evidence-based intervention strategies, strengthening community planning and the impact of social actions in Barú.
