Somos Letra Viva is a literacy program that strengthens the reading and writing skills of children, youth, and adults in the district of Barú, promoting their autonomy, comprehension, and personal development through continuous learning.

The Somos Baruleros Scholarship Program facilitates access to higher education for young people from the district of Barú at the Fundación Universitaria Tecnológico Comfenalco de Cartagena, providing financial and academic support to promote their holistic development. The program also aims to develop positive role models who inspire other young people in the community to pursue higher education and actively contribute to local development.
Scholarship recipients are supported by a psychosocial team that provides academic, emotional, and family guidance, ensuring an appropriate environment for learning and long-term university retention. This continuous support strengthens students’ personal and social skills, fostering their well-being and academic success.
Key benefits include full payment of university tuition, daily meals, transportation to and from Barú, and the provision of academic materials. To access and remain in the program, students must be permanent residents of the district, maintain good academic performance, actively participate in program activities, and carry out community service.
The program’s impact has been significant, benefiting 18 young people. Several have graduated, some are continuing professional studies, and others are currently employed or completing internships. Scholarship recipients are recognized as community leaders and participate in local projects, contributing to youth leadership and the social and educational development of Barú.
The Somos Futuro Program aims to empower the community of Barú by providing access to higher education and workforce training programs offered in partnership with the Fundación Universitaria Tecnológico de Comfenalco and other authorized institutions. Through these educational processes, the program seeks to strengthen participants’ personal, academic, and professional capacities, contributing to the construction of a better future and the well-being of their families.
To ensure quality and continuity, the program is supported by an interdisciplinary team composed of professionals in psychology, academic coordination, and facilitating instructors. This team provides ongoing pedagogical, academic, and psychosocial support, offering individual and family follow-up while ensuring the proper development of content and compliance with training plans.
Somos Futuro operates through strategic alliances with partners such as SENA, Tecnológico de Comfenalco, and Comfenalco – Cedesarrollo, which offer technical training, certified programs, and short-term vocational courses. In 2025, the program certified and enrolled 121 participants in areas such as workplace English, early childhood care, social entrepreneurship, etiquette and protocol, manicure and pedicure, barbering, and barista training, responding to the labor needs of the territory.
The program’s impact is reflected in the strengthening of job skills, improved employability, the promotion of entrepreneurship, and the inclusion of priority populations such as women heads of household. Thanks to its contextualized approach and comprehensive support model, Somos Futuro has become a key strategy for the economic, social, and community development of Barú.
